Lanka China News (LCN) is a dedicated digital news portal focused on reporting economic, cultural, and political news bridging Sri Lanka and China. The objective was to design a highly authoritative, culturally meaningful visual identity and a seamlessly matching news website complete with a custom digital Masthead to establish credibility across international media platforms.
Brand Identity & Visual Metaphors
The logo mark cleverly incorporates national symbolism into letterforms to represent bilateral harmony between Sri Lanka and China.
Symbolic Architecture & Color Palette
- Sri Lankan National Identity (Letter ‘L’): The letter ‘L’ prominently features the geographic map silhouette of Sri Lanka in golden yellow, honoring the yellow/gold from the Sri Lankan national flag.
- Chinese National Symbolism (Letter ‘C’): The letter ‘C’ integrates five golden stars embedded within a rich red backdrop, directly inspired by the national flag of the People’s Republic of China.
- Media Authority (Letter ‘N’): Represents “News”, grounding the monogram with a strong, solid typographic structure for broadcast readability.
- Bilateral Palette: Combined Yellow Gold (Sri Lanka) and Imperial Red (China) to build cultural bridge recognition at a glance.
